Why Us?
What Makes a Glass Railing System Work Outdoors
An outdoor glass railing system consists of glass panels, mounting hardware, and structural attachments engineered to handle exterior conditions. Every component must resist weather exposure that indoor systems never face.
Our Process
The Outdoor Railing Installation Process
Design alignment and precise execution are essential for installation of all outdoor glass railing systems.
Consultation
Installation starts with careful measurement of your deck. We measure to the installed hardware to ensure precision glass cutting. This avoids gaps and ensures proper fit.
For Frameless Systems
For frameless systems, hardware goes in first, then glass panels are custom-cut and installed. The process takes 6 to 8 weeks from measurement to completion.
Semi-Frameless Systems
Semi-frameless systems, aluminum posts are installed, followed by glass installation in 6 to 8 weeks. Posts go up first so you maintain some protection while waiting for glass.
Railing Types
Two Glass System Options for Your Outdoor Space
Both systems meet BC Building Code requirements and handle coastal weather. The choice comes down to your budget and the look you want.

Frameless Systems
Frameless systems mount glass directly to your deck with no visible posts between panels. You get the clearest views and a modern look. These systems use 12mm glass anchored with base shoe channels, standoffs, or spigots. Pricing typically ranges from $300 to $400 per linear foot.

Semi-Frameless Systems
Semi-frameless systems use aluminum posts spaced up to 42 inches apart with glass panels between them. Posts add a defined look while still keeping views open. This option costs less, typically ranging from $250 to $350 per linear foot.
Weather
Built for BC Coastal Weather
Coastal BC brings rain, salt air, and temperature swings. Wood railings rot. Metal railings corrode. Glass does not.
Glass panels resist moisture and salt. Hardware uses marine-grade stainless steel or powder-coated aluminum that holds up to the elements. Your railing looks the same in year five as it did on installation day.
Wind loads are factored into every installation. Glass thickness, hardware spacing, and mounting methods are chosen based on your deck height and exposure. The system stays secure even during coastal storms.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the top questions our clients ask about our outdoor glass railing systems before getting started.
What are the advantages of outdoor glass railing systems?
Glass railings provide an open, modern look that doesn’t obstruct your view. They’re also low-maintenance, corrosion-resistant, and ideal for properties in coastal or high-humidity regions like Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
Are outdoor glass railing systems safe in strong weather?
Yes. We use laminated safety glass and structural-grade mounts designed to handle wind, rain, and temperature changes common to the West Coast.
Can outdoor railings be customized to match my home?
Absolutely. You can choose from a range of glass types, tints, post styles, and hardware finishes to create a look that complements your home’s exterior design.
How do outdoor glass railings hold up over time?
Our systems are engineered for long-term performance. Unlike wood or steel, laminated glass and aluminum won’t rust, rot, or require frequent refinishing- just occasional cleaning keeps them looking new.
Do you install outdoor glass railing systems throughout the Fraser Valley?
Yes. Tenmar provides full outdoor railing services in Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, and across the Fraser Valley, ensuring expert design and installation wherever you’re located.
